What Are Micro Feather Hair Extensions?

Micro feather hair, often sold as feather tip, 6D or 9D hair, is made of small, featherlight pieces of hair designed to be attached in tiny sections close to the scalp. Because each piece is so fine, the result can look and move like hair growing from your own head.

The Hair Is Not the Method

Feather tip names the hair. How it is attached is a separate choice, and it is the choice that matters most. Some stylists bond feather hair with keratin glue and heat. Others clamp it with beads. The Illusion Knot Method℠ ties each piece by hand with a knot, so there are no braids, no beads, no glue and no tension.

Why Clients Choose It

  • Invisible at the root. There is no track, bead or bond to hide, even in a ponytail.
  • Lightweight. Small pieces spread the weight across your head.
  • Scalp access. Your scalp stays easy to cleanse and care for.
  • Reusable hair. Raw hair can be taken down and reinstalled as your hair grows.

Who It Is Right For

The method is not just for textured hair. If there is hair to knot to, it works. Your natural hair should be at least 4 inches long, and longer is best. Most installs use 2 bundles of 100g each, and 3 bundles for maximum fullness.

How Long It Lasts

With maintenance, wear is typically 3 to 4 months. Every Illusion Knot install includes one complimentary refresh.
